Some political links...

Heyas.

Here are some political links for my adoring fans:

First off, here is the DC Statehood Green Party website, which has a petition for you to sign to get Washington DC statehood. The importance of this is that people in Washington DC don't have representation in Congress, so the federal government basically implies laws on their life that they don't have a say on. That's bad. Remember, that's the same reason the United States became a country to begin with. "Taxation without Representation" reminds me of the Boston teaparty. Without statehood, this goes from being a country where everyone is equal, to where everyone, except people in DC, is equal. (Mind you, DC is majority African American and Latino) That's not very American now is it? Have I convinced you to sign it yet?

Next up is an editorial that Ralph Nader wrote (you guys could call him the spokesperson of the Green Party) about the elections that just occured. He explains why Democrats didn't do as well as they could have. We really are running out of options on how our government is run when both the major parties are for the same issues.

Luckily most of my friends will be eligible to vote in 2004, and I encourage them to do so.

In other good political news, the Greens have gained ballot access in 2 spots in Georgia for the next elections. Glynn County's (Brunswick) Zack Lyde got just over 30% of the vote for District School Board! Good numbers. Also, Clarke County's (Athens) Ed Vaughan got just over 8% of the vote for County Commission. They will both have ballot access, which will means they can put their resources (money, time, etc) into campaigning, and not into petitioning (to get on the ballot). Tim
