to the guinea pigs
Hey.
Laura and I were just talking about the guinea pigs and it kind of depressed me. I guess I never really got to say goodbye, and that's why it hurts me to talk about them. So I'm going to be saying goodbye in this entry. I just hope this gives you guys a little insight into them. They all had their own personalities. I'll do this alphabetically.
Animal -
Animal is one of Rizzo's babies. Animal was all brown and we had to take him away from Rizzo after he was weened because we didn't want him getting Rizzo pregnant again. Animal was always a sweetheart when you held him and was usually the quietest one (of the three babies) when you held him. The only problem was he would run away when you tried to hold him. He was scared I guess.
Dr. Teeth -
Dr. Teeth's story is one of my favorite's to tell. We got her from Petsmart and were going to put her in the cage with Janice and Miss Piggy. Janice and Dr. Teeth got in a fight so we had to put Dr. Teeth in a tupperwear container. She would constantly pull her water bowl into her pigloo. She was a lazy pig. She had many nicknames, including "stoner pig" and "hippy pig". She got these nicknames because of her long hair. If you looked at her face on when she had been drinking from her water bowl, you had seen wet hair on her chin, and for some reason that just reminded me of a hippy. I was attracted to her at Petsmart because she was white all over, but had a brown head and had a black patch around one of her eyes and I thought that was the coolest thing I've ever seen. Dr. Teeth liked to gnaw on things more than any of the other pigs, so the name was very fitting.
Floyd -
Floyd was Laura's guinea pig. Floyd looked exactly like Rizzo and if it weren't for the size difference we couldn't tell them apart. Floyd is one of Rizzo's babies. I don't have much to say about Floyd, I'd have to leave that to Laura. She was a cool pig, though.
Janice - Janice never really got attention. We got her and Miss Piggy together for free from Petland. Janice was terrified of people. She was the direct opposite of Miss Piggy, who loved people. Janice was all white with a brown head and a brown bottom. Janice was sweet once you held her. She didn't make much noise. She really was starting to become more and more open to me up until the day we gave her away. Each day she'd let me pet her a little bit longer before she'd run off in fear. Looking back I feel bad because I never spent enough time with her and I had made a deal with myself that I would, because she seemed so scared to begin with.
Miss Piggy -
Miss Piggy and I had became best friends for awhile (other than Laura of course). I spent time with Miss Piggy when Laura wasn't around. When Laura was around I did too, to the point where Laura would make comments that I was cheating on her with Miss Piggy. Miss Piggy would often lick my tongue. Hehe. I know it sounds sick, but it's all in love. Guinea Pigs have clean mouthes. Miss Piggy was the most interesting looking pig. She was brown on her bottom, then had a small section of tan, then white, then a small section of black, and her face was a mixture of all 4 of the colors. She enjoyed me more than any of the pigs and it was a common sound to hear her cry for food whenever I opened the fridge. I couldn't walk in or out of the kitchen without petting her, or sticking my finger in the side of the cage so she'd walk up and lick it.
Rizzo -
Rizzo was my first. We got her at Petland in Athens, she's all brown. We thought she was a guy because the window said "M", but we found out a month later when she had babies that she was in fact a girl. Rizzo and I were always cool with each other. She enjoyed being petted, and she was fun to hold. I think she did an awesome job with her babies, especially at her young age. I guess I couldn't owe my love for guinea pigs to anyone else other than Rizzo. She was my first. I used to love feeding Rizzo more than any of the other guinea pigs. I don't know why, I just loved watching Rizzo eat.
Zoot -
Zoot was an awesome friend. We thought Zoot was a girl, until the day we gave her up and were told it was a guy. I think at that moment we realized Rizzo was pregnant again. I had started having suspicions too. Zoot was Rizzo's other baby. Zoot is all gray with a few small patches of white. Zoot was always scared, and would always cry when you picked him up. After awhile he'd let you pet him in the cage, though, but would run when you tried to pick him up. He was the first baby I held and I held him at 4 hours old.
In conclusion, I'd like to say bye to you pigs. You were awesome pets.
